Oregano

Origanum vulgare

You will receive oregano herb seedling in a plastic cup.

Soil: Fertile, moist but well drained soil
Position: Full sun

A hardy, perennial herb originating from the mountains in Greece where its leaves are widely used to enhance the flavour of tomato sauces, vegetables, and grilled meat. It is however most commonly known for its ability to add pep to a pizza. It can be used either fresh (for an intense flavour) or dried (when the leaves tend to have a sweeter, softer tang).

Growing Instructions: Planted all year round, remove seedling from the plastic cup. Place in a shallow pot fill it with rich organic soil. Or, dig a shallow hole outside in a lightly-shaded spot, allowing 25cm between plants. Pick plants over regularly and remove any developing flower heads immediately to prevent bolting (running to seed) and to encourage lots of fresh young leaves.

* Pick frequently, will act as a magnet to bees and other pollinating insects.

* Organically grown in Naivasha, Kenya
