Eucalyptus grandis is a straight-growing tree commonly found in the Kenyan highlands, including Uasin Gishu, Kisii, and Kakamega, at altitudes of 1,400–2,200 meters above sea level, or even higher.

It is an excellent source of transmission poles, industrial wood fuel, construction wood, and pulpwood. It is also used for furniture, poles, and posts.

The tree can grow up to 50 meters tall just like the E.grandis. For best results, plant during the rainy season (March–May) with a spacing of 2.5 × 2.5 meters.

A commonly grown sub species, the E. saligna’s heart wood is reddish, making it ideal for commercial use.
