Botanical name: Eucalyptus grandis

Eucalyptus grandis is an popular, evergreen, straight-growing tree commonly found in the Kenyan highlands, including Trans-Nzoia, Bungoma, Nyeri and Kiambu, at altitudes of 1,500–2,200 meters above sea level. Minimum rainfall of about 1000mm.

It is an excellent source of transmission poles, industrial wood fuel, construction wood, and pulpwood. It is also used for furniture, poles, and posts.

The tree can grow up to 50 meters tall. For best results, plant during the rainy season (March–May) with a spacing of 2.5 × 2.5 meters and apply 30 gsm of NPK 17-17-17 per tree seedling.

It is extremely fast-growing, making it ideal for commercial use.
